With summer just around the corner we’ve picked our latest quarterly draw winner. ‘Emptynester’ won a WR-5588 Wine Rack for her review of the Sonax WB-2609 West Lake 60" TV / Component Bench.
“The tv stand has been an excellent addition. It blends with our other furniture, which are also espresso in colour. It was easy to put together, is very sturdy and well finished. Even the knobs were the right finish for our needs, matching our brushed nickel elsewhere. It hides the many cords and accessories necessary these days for modern viewing, recording and game playing as well as lots of room to store dvd's etc.
We chose the wine rack WR5588 because of its simple design and elegant finish. We think it will prove to be unobtrusive and useful in storing not only our wine, but also glasses.”

After spending the summer collecting entires to our review contest, we’ve got our next quarterly draw winner! M.H. from Delta, B.C., who wrote a glowing review of his NP-1608 Naples TV Stand and has won our WR-5588 Wine Rack. Here’s a bit of what he had to say about his TV Stand:
“I would easily recommend this product to anyone... think of your typical 'easy-to-assemble' product, beef it up with thicker wood, better finish, and give it a better price tag and that is the SONAX NP-1608.”
Take some time to share your experiences with other customers! Let them know how you feel about our products, fill out an entry form at the link below and you could win our next draw!

Our first draw winner is J.W. from Quebec, who won a DQ-1501 headboard for his review of the Sonax BX-6010 Bromley 60" Midnight Black TV / Component Bench. We read over a lot of great reviews, got some helpful honest feedback and enjoyed hearing how our customers enjoy our products. J.W. didn’t write a long review but he still got his point across.
“This is a perfect TV stand for our European sectional sofa and 55 inch TV. It is a very stylish TV stand, the height we need.”

When I was in college my girlfriend and I made a date out of building a Ready to Assemble TV Bench. It wasn’t our best date but certainly wasn’t our worst. If I was given the chance to do it again, I could have made a better impression if I had been building an HC-5590, it would have given me a chance to look much stronger and capable than I really am. I also wouldn’t have fallen asleep on the couch immediately after we finished our project either.
The bench I bought in college was purchased to replace the second hand nightstand that I was using for my TV at the time and part of a self initiated plan to seem more grown up. The stand I chose looked good but moving the box it came in from the store to her car and up the stairs was enough work to warrant a coffee break before I even looked at the assembly instructions. If I would have purchased the HC-5590 we probably would have been done before supper, but we were stuck putting together parts well into an episode of Friends.
My favorite part of the old stand was how solid it looked, which is why both of us strained to move it anywhere. Now that I'm a bit older, I know enough to see how strong simple designs can be while still looking good. The design of the HC-5590 isn’t particularly flashy or dramatic, but it is cool. Glass doors, magnetic latches and adjustable shelves are all exactly where you would want them to be. The centre shelf is open for centre channel audio or components that you want to keep cool in open air. The look of the Holland line is a modern classic, comfortably adding to any room its’ in. The design is boiled down to the essence, its’ twin brother (HC-5598) sits on the drawing board and there are shorter versions of it in the works as well. I also like the bent metal feet, which echoes the design's simple confidence. I would have bought it as a student and I’d buy it today, which is part of the universal appeal of Sonax’ designs.
Just like how a road trip isn’t about the destination as much as the journey, the HC-5590 is special for how easy it is to work with. Hauling the 85 lbs. box up a three storey stairway is as easy as carrying a fidgety eight year old under your arm, minus all the wriggling and shouting.
Building the HC-5590 is remarkable because of how the thick pieces are so easy to work with. As the largest piece in the package, the top requires next to no effort to set into position. Lining up the eight cams from the top to into eight holes in the uprights is much easier than it should be. No mortal wood could ever be this light. The design of Hollow Core is simple and effective; use the hardest wood on the outside and sandwich a honeycomb of reinforcement in the middle. The hard shell of Sonax’ Hollow Core is ¼” thick, twice as thick as some of our competition. When it came time to put the shelves in I couldn’t help but be disappointed at how dense they felt by comparison.
I wish someone could have been mentioned the HC-5590 back then and looking back, I probably should have made dinner and rented a movie too.
